This hand-moulded facing brick is made from Limburger löss clay from the Kesselt tableland in the valley of the Meuse and revalue with raw materials from the Volcanic Eifel.
The facade bricks (non-perforated) have fi ve sand covered sides and one oblong groove. The structure looks rugged with fi ne and irregular grooves in the sandy surface. The baking process takes place in a gas-heat- ed tunnel oven under slightly reduced atmosphere.
The homogenous mixture of accurately pre-determined proportions of manganese oxide with grey-red baking loam is responsible for the dark brown colour of the brick. The shadings range from grey-yellow to red- brown.
